LCI 2010 is a national training event offered by the United Methodist Church Large Church Initiative Steering Committee in partnership with the General Board of Discipleship. LCI 2010 introduces you to leading thinkers, major speakers, and cutting-edge systems for making disciples and making decisions that make disciples.

Children’s Easter Celebration | “The Names of Jesus!”

Jesus has many names in the Bible. These names evolve around stories that will help children understand the journey we each take to Easter and our own understanding of the cross. Age-appropriate stories, projects, and fun will be had by children of all ages. Invite your friends, family, and neighbors to this year’s exciting Easter program for children as they cement God’s message through hands-on memories.

Quick—if you had to summarize the most important teachings of Jesus, what would you say? What are the six key lessons from the life and words of Jesus?

Beginning February 7, the University Preaching Ministry seeks to answer those questions—for six weeks, Pastors Charles Anderson and Ryan Barnett “team preach” on the six primary doctrines expounded by Jesus. Both North and South Campus pulpits look directly into the words of Jesus from the four Gospels to discern and understand the core of Christ’s teaching. What are the six basic beliefs of Jesus which, if rightly understood, help us better understand the rest of Christ’s preaching and teaching?

All-Church Emphasis: January-June 2010
What might happen to a church that spent a full 6 months seeking to look to Jesus and look like Jesus?

That is the question behind “Season With The Savior,” University United Methodist Church’s Spring 2010 All-Church emphasis. From the beginning of January to the end of June, the people and programs of University Church focus exclusively on understanding our need for Jesus, interpreting the news about Jesus, and activating our call from Jesus.

Designed around University Church’s “Pathway to Discipleship,” “Season Of The Savior” devotes the entire 2010 Spring semester calendars in worship, Sunday School, age level ministries, and short-term Bible/class studies to experiencing a “Jesus meeting,” accessing the “Jesus message,” and investing in a “Jesus mission.”

The core of “Season With The Savior” are five preaching-centered studies, all focused on the person of Jesus. Each of the five sermon series features “team preaching” on both North and South campuses—for six months, Pastor Charles and Pastor Ryan share the same weekly Bible passage, same weekly sermon title and topic, and same weekly lesson. In turn, Discipleship Pastor Will Rice assists adult, youth, and children’s classes in attaining curriculum and lesson plans that follow the preaching calendar. Adult Sunday School classes and small groups also have a wide variety of Christ-centered study programs to use both short-term and long-term during the spring semester. The “Pathway to Discipleship” also continues offering regular editions of the highly popular studies “Jesus 101,” and “Jesus for Skeptics and Seekers.”

The preaching series, Sunday School and Bible classes, small groups, and individual learners can also find a wealth of specially-selected Bibles, books, CDs and DVDs, and other learning resources available for them in The Word Book Store.
